Problem With Fallout 1 and 2

For some reason, whenever the games try to play the endings, they seem to skip them either immediatly or in the middle of it.

Anybody got a solution for this?

Turn off sound acceleration in dxdiag. We should remember to put this in the troubleshooting sticky some time.

The same thing happens to me on a Mac. A few times it's worked right, but usually not. I haven't been able to figure out what conditions it happens under; there is no sound acceleration option.

I have a similar but even more annoying problem: All the action sounds stop working shortly after loading the game. Whenever I load or quickload a game I can pick something up only once with the correct sound, after that all I can hear is the background music.

This is according to me one of the worst things that could happen since I really miss the sound the 14mm or .223 pistol makes.

Does anyone have the same problem and even more important the solution to this?

(I believe it first happened when I installed FO2, where the same thing occurs, since then both games have no action sounds).

I just found that turning subtitles off fixed this problem (for me, at least). Also, the narration is pretty quiet, so you may have to turn your speakers up quite a bit to hear it.
