Problem with Fallout 2 and patch

I started to play Fallout 2 without the patch and i luckily didnt get far when i was told i needed a patch. After i installed the patch i restarted from the beginning and when i got to Klamath in hte main downtown area i tried to enter the green area in the north west where i think there was a fallen helicopter and robot. But as soon as i step on the green area the screen turns black and says theres an error but i cant read it cuz its hidden. what do i do?
 
I have met two different causes for this. 1. Your savegame is corrupted, just start over and walk directly to Klamath to see if it alright then. 2. Your gamefile is corrupted, reinstall (preferbly from another copy). If you are sure your copy is ok, just reinstall from your copy.
I myself think your savegame is corrupt. I have met many problems like that, but once I had a wrong copy and I couldn't enter NCR.
 
I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it then started a new game and it still had the same problem! So im guessing its the game file but its weird cuz it only happened when i installed the patch...is there anything i can do now??
 
Have you tried downlading another patch? In the weirdest case that could be corrupted...hmm...
