Problem with Lynette in FO 2 *SPOILERS

henry41

First time out of the vault
After killing all but the Wright family in New Reno I went to the Raider Camp and killed all the Raiders, or at least I got a message to that effect. I'm now in Vault City.
I have the account books and Bishop's holodisc and after much discussion was able to tell Sgt. Sark that I wiped out the Raiders. He directs me to give this info to Lynette. Here's the problem:

I can not get her to talk about the Raiders except to tell me about the attacks on VC. I can not get any option to tell her I've wiped out the Raiders or to give her the books or the holodisc.

1. Have I missed doing something that won't let this conversation take place?

2. If it's a bug, can I complete the game with out doing this step?

3. I have the latest official patch and Killap's Unofficial patch for FO2 ver. 1.02.25 loaded.

I'm sorry about the long post. And for what it's worth, I'm trying to play this game with out using any walkthroughs. It's hard not using one

Thanks in advance
henry41 :D

This quest works out nicely in the stock version of the game if you talk to the NCR vice president as well beforehand.

But since you are running Killap's patch, you might want to inquire in the Mod forum.

I just finished reading all the things that Killap's addressed in his patch and all the things addressed in the official patches, and did not see this mentioned at all.

Sorry to continue to bother everyone, but I'm at a lost as to what to do. The only one that will talk to me about wiping out the Raiders is Sark, who sends me to Lynette. She will not talk about it, nor can I get the option to give her the account book or Bishop's Holodisc. No one else in the building including McClure will talk about it or take the items.

I'm thinking I've missed something that would have triggered this event. Just don't know what.
Does anyone one what will happen if I just ignore this, take the antidote I got from Dr. Troy and take it to Redding. And then just go to the places I've not been to yet?

I'm really enjoying this game and would like to be able to complete it. :(

Forgot to address this in my post above. Sorry

Do you think that if after killing the Raiders, that I go to NCR before going back to VC? I have a saved game right after leaving the Raider camp. Although another reason I was going to VC was to get the antidote.
This games going to drive me to drink and I stopped drinking 20 years ago :D

I am having the same exact problem.

Quite sad, considering it's a major quest in the game and affects the ending.

I'm guessing it's a misplaced/missing trigger issue.

Well I'm sorry you're having the same problem, but I'm glad I'm not the only one to experience it.
It must not effect everyone's game, because according to what I read at another site forum (GOG.com) there's a walkthrough that talks about giving her the account book and then the disc. The person there told me what to do so I would not have to read any spoilers, but it did not work. I think he said the walkthrough was by someone named Jorner. But as I said, what he told me to do, did not work.
Thinking about starting a new game, but I've come so far.

I checked with Per's guide, and apparently having the books and Bishop's disk on your person can cause problems (towards the end of this.) I don't know if Killap's changed any of that.

But to your earlier questions: No, you can still beat the game without finishing the quests. The raiders should still be logged as dead for the purposes of the the ending, but it might change something regarding NCR and VC.

Edit: In the time it took me to look it up, someone beat me to the link. ;)

Sorry to keep dragging this thing out.

I've followed all the steps that are in Per Jorner's Guide. Man he must have spent a lot of time on that guide. I will be using it the next time I play, if I ever get through the 1st time.

Anyway, I still can't get Lynette to talk about the raiders being wiped out or except the book or give me the holodisck for Westin. (read that in Per's guide) that's why I try to avoid them the 1st time I play a game. :o

My question:
Can one ver. of the game be bugged and another ver. not have the bug?

I'm playing the game I purchased from GOG.com and it's got the latest patch.
I can buy Fallout Trilogy which includes FO, FO2, and Tactics from Amazon.com for 11.00 USD, which also comes with latest patch.

Can one not be bugged and one bugged? Not very good at knowing these things. If that can happen, I'll buy the other game.
Want to finish this game with things happening the way their supposed to if possible. :)

henry,

I don't think you should buy another game; I'm guessing this is an issue related to killaps patch or simply unsolved by the 1.2 official, and has to do with global triggers and such. Thus, buying a new game won't solve it.

I moved on haha - and I'm back to Arroyo already.

Cheers

Congrats.

You're probably right. Guess that's what I'll do. Maybe it won't happen the next time I play. I was hoping that someone who had our problem and knew how to correct it would have replied.
Oh well, I'm going to go ahead and play it through.

It seems you are way ahead of me, so when you get done, if you don't mind, post here and let me know if skipping this quest makes any difference in the game.

Thanks and good luck the rest of the way. :)
