Ok, what do you think. Should the world's oldest profession be legal. Should it be a crime to have sex for money? If we make it legal, aren't we corrupting our society.

What do you think?

Yes. It can be controlled, it can be taxed, it can be spoken about, and it should not be taboo. If it is controllable, you can make sure easier that there is no exploitation, and if you can do that, you can make sure that everyone in that business does it because they chose to do it, not because they were forced to do it. And if that is the case, then there is no problem anymore.

legalized, taxed, controlled, besides, why should we care if anyone wants to sell their body?

So more like Nevada- A state with legal poker and prostitutes can't be all bad.

I would like to hear what some of the ladies might think on this? Lauren?

Prostitution smells bad. It makes me cry contemplating sexing up a stranger, and for money no less! If prostitution was legal, it would remove so much of the richness which the prostitution subculture has fermented for itself.

and if you can do that, you can make sure that everyone in that business does it because they chose to do it, not because they were forced to do it.

Prostitution became illegal in the first place because of the widely propagated misconception that the vast majority of prostitutes were kidnapped and sold into "White Slavery."

The bordello system in Nevada seems to be the ideal for a legalized system. Street prostitution should remain illegal, as it increases the spread of STDs, and forces women to become nothing more than, well, bitches.

Legalize it only if the business begins to involve less crack whores and chicks with weiners.

Legalize it, specially here in brazil, it's pretty ridiculous. It's completely widespread, every city has at least a few small "red light houses" as we call them, as soon as its dark you can find just any kind of person selling their services, from regular females down to shemale dominatrixes, and yet, it's considered illegal. Infact once i went in a bordello, the ploice came in, checked everyone's id to see if they were over 18, and went away as if everything was absolutely normal.

Illegal, it spreads disease (that is only one reason).

Legalized and regulated it would put a stop to the spread of disease. Everytime I think of legalized prostitution I think of the short lived TV series Firefly. Registered "companions" were members of a guild, recieved specialized training at professionaly run schools, had to go in for routine medical check ups. The guild functioned as a sort of Hooker Union to protect its members and regulate the customers. Anyone who roughed up or mistreated a member got blacklisted and members who did things the guild didn't approve of got thrown out. What I thought was interesting was that the "Companions" were considered very respectable and dignified.

The United States is no where near ready to accept prostitution as legal though. Its still considered a vice by virtually every major religion, and any politician at the state or federal level who was associated with the legalization would be in serious trouble as the entire religious right of America united against them.

What Nevada has works for Nevada, but would not work in many other states for the simple reason that it would not be acceptable to the majority of the population. This is always subject to change though and many states seem ready to consider the possibility.

I must admit that Brazil has some of the most gorgeous women(and booty) in the world.

If all Brazilian prostitutes look like this, I'll be on a plane tomorrow!

I would say legalize it, tax it and control it.

Lets be honest here, everyone has paid for sex period.

Whether emotional or monetary, sex still commands a price.

I still don't understand how paying a perfect stranger for sex is any different than a person spending money and time to get into their girlfriends panties.

I think prostitution should be legalised. It would keep the business more safe for both client and prostitute and what DarkCorp said is correct. There are whores because there are many people willing to pay for their services. And there are certain things you are not going to ask your girlfriend or your wife, the mother of your kids to do.

It's an old social institution and it's value in our society should be recognized and taxed.

Legalize it! :P

Dont froget freebies for returning soldiers, and perminet $1 fee's for diables vets.
Deafy citizens too.

I'm neutral on the legalization of prostitution though. There's plenty of benefits and disadvantages to go around with this topic, and it really doesn't matter to me either way as I probably won't ever hire the services of one ever.
