Pump/Lever Action Shotgun - Any Fallout 2 Mods?

Radman

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Greetings chaps,

I was wondering if there was an early game/mid level Mod for implementing a pump/lever action style shotgun into Fallout 2?

I've tried a search on the forum but come up empty so apologies if this has already been asked.

Its something I’ve always found odd that we have a double barrelled shotgun (decent-ish damage early game but made somewhat worthless by holding only two shells.) and that every other shotgun after that is some military variant that fires 'bursts' of rounds at once.

I feel there’s an entire category of shotgun missing, the humble Pump/Lever that can hold eight or nine shells yet not fire on burst (perhaps have it like the revolver so it only takes 4AP to fire.)

Just something I was mulling over with my current playthrough.

Many thanks for your replies/feedback,

Rad

I know of no such mods. I mean, there will be a pump-action shotgun in Mutants Rising, but you'd have to wait rather long for just this weapon :P

Notwithstanding, you can easily make such a mod yourself. Download Cubik's F2wedit (I think there's a copy in the NMA files section) - it's a great, great software for editing and adding new items to the game. The interface is very intuitive and you will no doubt find your way around it even if you've never had any experience with modding.

If you're looking for graphics for the shotgun, I think there should be at least one in this thread. As for tutorials on how to add new graphics to the game, I'm sure there's plenty of info in the Fallout modification FAQ or in the links posted somewhere in the sticky threads around here.

Once you've made your weapon, open Fallout maps with Mapper and place it where you deem it worthwhile.

Good luck and have fun!

Cheers for your reply Ardent,

I was thinking of modding it into the same myself, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll be sure to share it once the gun is finished.

Hey Ardent, I knew that thread existed somewhere, but I didn't have the heart (or time) to search for it...this shotgun might help.

I did just that last year: installed FO2 + RP, then used Cubik's editor to tweak the sawed-off shotgun into having seven shells loaded instead of two.

I also added a 2-shell burst mode to the regular shotgun.

IIRC, I also reduced the burst of the Combat Shotgun from 5 shells to 3, both to match the burst sound and to make it less redundant with the CAWS.
