Have anyone ever tryed to mod the game engine so it will support better grafics ??

Better as in how??

-Higher resolution?
-Change the types of materials on buildings?
-Different types of buildings?
-3d graphics?
-Different viewpoint?
-More types of characters?
-Bright, sunny cheerful wasteland instead of dark, dreary?
-Pr0n billboards?
-Mod everyone to look like Simpsons characters?

I was thinking about importing grafic objects from FT:BOS (lockers, inventory items, ground tiles and so on), but I don't want to modify the gameplay at all. (And for sure no Homer or Bart Simpson in it :) )

I assume some things will be possible when the mapper and other editing tools are fully complete, BUT..... Fallout uses a different perspective than FOT. So you wouldn't be able to use the tiles.

Sounds reasonable, but will FO2 engine support the new objects? What about real time lighting support from FO: BOS, could it be imported too? Any way it looks like for this particular purpose FO2 engine will have to be moddified.

The FO2 engine should be able to support new objects like tiles as long as they are created in the same format as the originals. Real-time lighting is something that was not in the original engine so it cannot be supported. The engine is basically unmodifiable, it would be easier to make your own engine from what I understand.

there must be an easier way. I supose that a map editor wouldn't be necesary, as long as imported objects fit in the old environment. the trick is to replace the old object with the new one in .dat files.
