Hi everyone.

I just purchased the Fallout/Fallout 2 combo package, and am looking forward to running it.

However, I am currently away from my house and was hoping you might be able to help me out.

I have the following system specs:

- Pentium 166
- 32 Megs of RAM
- 8 Speed CD drive
- 2 MB video card (standard, nothing special)
- Plan on doing largest install (600 megs?)

With the following system do you think I will be able to run Fallout 2 at an enjoyable speed. I can deal with loading time between areas, as long as the game runs smoothly.

I recently purchased Baldur's Gate, and that ran fine except it slowed down noticeably when I entered taverns with 20 people.

If you could respond with your oppinion on whether you think Fallout 2 will run well (smooth, no lagging) on the system above I would really appreciate it.

I am new to this list, for I just got the game, but hopefully I will soon become a frequent poster (both asking and helping others).

Thanks much,

Grondar

Both Fallouts would run perfectly in that system, as for Fallout 2, maybe you're going to have some slow loading saved games, so, be prepared for this. I can recommend you to install the Large (not Humongous) installation and download the 1.02 patch BEFORE you play!

May I ask why the Large install would be better than the Humongous install? I have never thought of doing the "smaller" install, but if you can convince me it is a good thing, I will surely do it.

Also, I have seen some posts about the patch and saved games becoming invalid, so thank you for that information. I guess I will download the patch before I play anything. *smile*

Thanks very much,

Grondar

About type installation, they just recommend that, and, because I don't have too much space on my HD, I always install the Large installation, so, I never thought about that.

I finished both fallouts on a 486/120 with 16 mb of RAM!!!!! I can't tell you how much hair I lost when I played F2 :-)
