Questions à Bethesda

Tannhauser

Venerable Relic of the Wastes
Orderite
Since the beginning of last month, there have been various reports from the mainstream gaming press, from Kotaku to Game Revolution, among others, of an event sponsored by Bethesda. Taking place next week, it is expected that this press event will be when substantial details about Fallout 3 will be revealed. Unfortunately, Bethesda has decided this event will be for official gaming press only, so representatives from the Fallout fansites will not be present.

One interesting invitee is Logan Booker of Atomic. In the Atomic forums, he has posted an open request for questions to bring to Bethesda's press event.
Oh, I've been putting together questions for the past couple of weeks now, anyone with some serious ball-busters, feel free to post them.
If you have a question you hope he will take to Bethesda, you might want to post it on their forums.

Link: Fallout 3 thread at Atomic (Logan's request post is at the bottom of second page).

Thanks to Specialist and Duck and Cover.

if they release gameplay information next week... the info we all actually WANT to know... i'll be ecstatic.

I'm not sure if I'll be ecstatic...Probably because I fear what information we'll get (OH YEAH PEOPLEZ, OBLIVION WITH - ZOMG - PLASMA RIFLES!!!)

I hope they'll ask important questions like (3rd/1st or is Tactics canon to them?) and not BS questions like "how many gameplay hours are expected?" or "what sort of computer will you need?"

Yyyyyyyeeaaah... that would be swell I'm excited yet pensive for this information... Have ta find out sometime.

Well, hopefully they'll spill some information.

But I feel very disappointed that they didn't invite anyone from the fansites. Doesn't one of the NMA guys (is it you Tannhauser?) even live in DC close to Bethesda?

Now it just feels like a bittersweet thing since I'll probably be forced to read annoying hype along with the info on these sites. Hopefully at least one of them will give a good report.

Yep, I live about thirty minutes away from Bethesda's Rockville office.

I travel to Rockville every now and again because they have a community theater group that does some of the more obscure Gilbert & Sullivan operas.

I think the "ball-busters" in everyone's mind are pretty obvious:
Isometric or first-person;
SPECIAL or something else;
Dialog trees or walking wikipedias;
Turnbased or realtime combat;
etc...

And I still doubt they want to answer these questions so soon if they are going to do Fallout 3 "their way".

i do remember a newsbit saying they'd use a modded type of SPECIAL, but very long ago.

of course, modded type of special might very well be the exact same thing as the Oblivion system you know... depends on how far you mod things, right?

Makes me glitter with hate that they don´t care enough for the people that held Fallout up over the years to invite someone from the community sites.

Instead they invite dumb fucks like Sean Molloy who wonder what all of a sudden Hellboy has to do in Fallout and who want to "explore that s*** in first-person" while listening to the "Ink Blots".

God.

How does the game deal with mature themes like drugs, theft, rape, prostitution and methodical and premeditated murder ?

That's the question I'd ask.

in regards to SPECIAL, in one of the 'meet the devs' threads on the beth forums, a developer hinted at SPECIAL pretty obviously. that and the article linked above seem to be valid reasons to think the system will be used.

The problem with SPECIAL is that they can say "the game will use it", but the only thing they keep is what gives SPECIAL its name, the primary stats, and make a mess of the rest of the system. Of course, this is all hypothetical and I still have just a bit of hope they'll get everything mostly right.

...but not much.
