Radiation or getting tabbed - which is the worst anyway?

Well, first of all, my concern isn't really one of the Fallout-games. My concern is the all time classic Wasteland, which I discovered recently (Pers' guide was an excellent introduction to the game, thank you very much).

I've not gotten very far into the game, maybe because of this: every time a window appears in Windows, which in most cases is when someone is writing to me on MSN, I get tabbed out of the game; this is very annoying, yet I don't want to quit MSN - what if some hot chick wants to chit-chat with me?
So, my question is: how do I prevent this? Any settings I can change? Any programs I can install?
Thanks in advanced.

Also, the forum search-engine didn't find any matches about my concern (although I just had a quick look), so please, don't go frenzy on me with virtual chainsaws if there already is a thread about this.

EDIT: Stupid 'ol me, not knowing which goes where; please move this thread to General Gaming/Hardware (if that is where it belongs).

Try to play it with DOSBox. In Windows is far too fast anyway.
I don't use MSN, but YM! doesn't take me out of DOSBox.

Close MSN and go to see some real chicks out there.

If you still don't want to close it, use AMSN, a free open source messenger for MSN network.

Thanks, I'll check all those things out; I've considered changing chat-device anyway. MSN is just too buggy.
If you use MSN while playing a game you deserve everything that happens to you.

MUAHAHAHAHA!
Well, to be honest, I don't see a reason to be logged in while playing since my simultaneous abilities will only allow me to do one thing anyway. But in some circuits online-activity, in the form of MSN, is status. And I don't want to miss that piece of action.

I feel a little dirty even posting in this thread. Seriously. Is there that much action in MS IM and you are afraid to be offline? Is your online time status really helping you in any way?

I am a nerd, I have a Mario wallet, and I play a lot of video games. But if anything were to happen that I actually care about I would get a CELL PHONE call.

All that being said, try www.meebo.com . It is a browser based IM that uses AOL, Yahoo, MSN and a third one I can't think of. It is also nice because you can use it at work.

I rarely use chatting programs but for some reason if I am awaiting an important message (well, about as important as chatting program messages get) I will leave my laptop open next to my regular computer so I can play games undisturbed. This is the best solution.

No.

But a laptop that can run chatting programs couldn't be too expensive. It just has to be some form of Pentium. It is nice because you can chat from bed, the toilet, etc.

...and watch porn! Lots of it!

EDIT: Doesn't sound like an all too bad idea, considering the circumstances; a swedish manufacturer is having this major campaign, trying to sell all-basic laptops for ~100£. Might be worth a shot, but I'll wait for a while, though - to make sure it's not a phony.
It has been given a lot of attention by the medias, some of them saying it's a swank and some saying there is no end of where you can wank.
Only time will tell, for now...
