Radiation recovery

Been quite awhile since I've played this one, and I've forgotten a lot. One thing I've forgotten is if the radiated condition goes away on its own over time, or if Rad-Away is necessary. Secondly, do teammates get radiated, and if so, how do I tell?

The stat penalties go away after a week; your accumulated radiation doesn't but is harmless unless you get radiated again. So in theory a mutated fruit could mess you up if you've been radiated a lot and didn't take RadAway, but it's very unlikely you'd get to that point. NPCs don't get radiated, it was one of the things they were going to add but didn't.
