Random Ordering - Main character switched

My main character got switched with another when I found the 4 horsemen of the post apocolypse, with a crappy initiate, and then I installed the patch to (hopefully) fix it, but it didn't... so... I tried to kill of the 1st character to switch back to my character, but then it gave me the "Failure" log... how do I fix this? Or do I have to start all the way from the beginning again? (This was done after the buena vista mission, the one that took me a long time to figure out.)
 
Its a very nasty bug and there is almost nothing u can do about it.....

maybe you should try reloading the game. If u have the game save during the Buena Vista, u just reload from there and things should be back to normal.
