I say "independent" because I do not want to include that one from 1960 that was based on the TV show... and they must be live action!!!
Anyway, here is my list... from my favorite to my least liked...

1. Batman Begins
I REALLY loved this film. I am very enthusiastic about origin stories and this movie pulled off the origin very nicely...about Bruce's parents getiing shot and him overcoming his Bat phobia...I particularly like the scene where Bruce tries to shoot Joe Chill but someone else shoots Joe first...Bruce then remorses over what he was about to do and promises to NEVER use a gun again..Nice...
2. The Dark Knight
Joker was my favorite villian from watching the cartoon when I was 6 and I think that this movie pulled him off nicely...And the movie also references phylosophy and stuff like Nietzsche(one dude in my English class did his semester project on Nietzche in pop culture and he had a ton of examples from this film). The movie also had subtle politcal stuff going on...
3. Batman(1989)
Good movie. Batman himself was done nicely here but I don't like how he kills Joker at the end...Batman doesn't kill, fool....Yeah, I know Ras and Two-Face die in BB and TDK respectively but Ras died because Batman refused to safe him rather than outright kill him and Two-Face's death in TDK was an accident....Yeah, I know that may flimsy but this movie was more blatant about Batman killing....Also, Joker was too silly in this one for me...
4. Batman Returns
Good movie. But the villians were done in a very strange way...Penguin was raised by penguins? WTF!!?!!??!?! and Catwoman comes back to life by a cat? WTF!!??!!??!?!? And Batman guns people down? WTF!?!?!?!?!?!
5. Batman Forever
Decent movie. Kinda fun. A little too campy and silly for me though...
6. Batman and Robin
This movie is to Batman what Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is to Fallout...I will leave it at that...
