Alrighty, Now i know that this topic has probably been done to death, and also that it will more'n likely start a flame war ( or is it just a flaming war?) anyway... I was reading the speculation about fallout III, on this page, http://fallout.gamestats.com/fallout3/
and at the beggining, J.E. Sawyer was talking about what couldn't be done in a turn based game. However, i would like to point out that all of these supposedly hard to implement ideas have already been done quite effectivly in a Turn based strategy. Its called X-COM. no not X-COM interceptor or Armeggedon I am talking about the original MPS game. All of it could be done. Reaction shots, field of fire arcs, sniping all of the above was done pretty effectivly, and that was neigh on 6 years ago... Now it is true. I don't think that interplay could ever live up to the genius that lived at Microprose ( the makers of the _CLASSIC_ civilization. well, gimme your thoughts....

X-Com, JA2, etc.

Those have already been implemented in a turn-based game, indeed.

Dennis Leary stole my song! That...asshole!

"Robert, your time has come!"

"OOOH! Thank you, Master!"

"Don't mention it."

*Robert explodes in a shower of sparks*

It's me, Jack Brown! The wind-up ass-hole!

Well I am positive there will be a "realtime" option in the next fallout title. But it will be a CTB system just like FO: Tactics (wich works awsome might I add) A realtime combat system would not have action points of any sort and would end up something along the lines of Diablo. As long as the offer both options (TB an CTB) i will be happy.

truly interplay has proven them selfs in both cases, Balder's Gate and Fallout proved it. the only down side to Balder's Gate was controling 6 ppl at a time, but folowing Fallout is you dont control the npc's; so it would be more like Balder's Gate online, just you and every one else moves them self. and i see that is ideal for F3 (that is if it ends up real-time)
