Recomended Mods for Fallout 3

Mekorig

First time out of the vault
In view of the immense quantity of FO3 mods (much like what happened with Oblivion), what are the ones you enjoyed the most?

I am using the "Better Pace Mod" that I found on the Nexus. It greatly slows down your XP gain. It does this by increasing your XP gain for discovery of new places and quest solving, and lowers XP gain for killing, lockpicking and computer hacking. I am maybe 60-70% through the game and I'm at level 14. This is a lot better than the vanilla version, but I think I would like the XP gain to be slower yet.

I'm mostly using some texture changes/NPC makeovers and a couple of new player houses. Aside from that, I'm currently using the "slower degradation" mod, which helps a lot. I like the idea of equipment degradation, but in vanilla FO3 it's ridiculously fast. It seems pretty ridiculous to me to have to carry 3 weapons just to be able to have a single well-functioning gun by the end of a non-fast travel trip. The thing I like about this mod is that it has several different files, all with different rates of degradation - so you can just pick whichever one you want.

I also like "Nova interaction revised" where there is a momentary fade to black once you hire her. It's not something that sees much use (I've actually only used it once just to see if it works), but it's just nice to have some kind of acknowledgement by the game that something happened.

I think we really need a mod which focuses on padding out the major quests (like Power Of The Atom, add some pre-requisite quests to Lucas Simms and Burke before they will trust you, and have it where if you defuse the bomb the Bomb Worshippers attack you but if you try to set it off Lucas Simms duels you). The dialogue trees could also do with some great improvement and Raven Rock could be revamped to allow more routes out, make it more exciting and difficult. A major mod could make the Enclave not necessarily hostile and have a branched main quest.

Luckily, most of the major issues with FO3 can be fixed with the G.E.C.K and just fixing some of the quests and towns to make them more interesting would make the game much, much better.
