Great minds think alike. This does not, however, mean that if you can bludgeon someone with rhetoric and make them think like you, you are a great mind. I speak in regards to the post European Army. I decided to make this a seperate thread because I didn't want it to get lost in the clamor of Army and because I didn't want to throw in something off topic, but most of all, because I didn't want the demons of idealism and ego entwined there in a fight to the death (or, more likely, to the closing of the thread) to descend on me and pick my bones clean with scathing remarks and smug comments that pass themselves off as wit. You people have already stated your viewpoints. All you are succeeding in doing is putting them out again in newer and more childish ways. If you keep up this way, someone is going to have to program some three stooges emoticons for you to stick into your posts. Give it a rest. So you can deride each other's opinions with sparkling wit and expansive vocabularies. So what? Any Joe Schlub with a thesaurus and a hot temper could do that. Let me summarize what has been said there if you have lost track:

Does not!
Does too!
Does not!
Does too!
Does not!

And so forth. The issues debated in the European Army thread are purely human ones. Emotion, higher thought and expression, RIGHT AND WRONG, generally human concepts. Have you thought that you may both be right in some capacity (Both sides, that is, although there are two or three of you individually who make my head throb with particular intensity. You know who you are...). There is no such thing as a one-sided situation. Every situation has a multitude of facets through which it is viewed, and no matter how hard you try to cram your ideas down someone's throat, you can't cram them into their head. Especially if the other side is dead set on their own ideas. It's nice that you people feel like going on some damn quixotic crusade; I've always said that there will be no lack of entertainment in this world as long as the ignorant and adamantine walk its surface. Here's a thought: Agree to disagree. I am no theologean, I am no moderator, but I am damn tired of people on these boards who would rather engage in a battle royale than live and let live. Every single sonamabitch on earth is going to have something to say about something, but that doesn't mean that everyone has to feel the same way about it. Please, ladies and gentlemen, end it with some dignity. Sorry for the cliche, but can't we all just get along?

-Yamu

P.S.- I don't care if you agree with me, disagree with me, or whatever. Flame this post all you like, I might even come back and check on it if I get bored or if someone holds a gun to my head and tells me to. I've said my peace (however long-winded it may be) and that's what matters to me.

P.P.S.- Please don't take this as an insult anyone. I like everyone on the boards except the morons, none of which have posted in European Army. I extend this p.s. especially to 8-Ball and Xotor, two kick-ass people, and two of, in my opinion, the most intelligent and interesting people on the boards, but perhaps the most prolific "quixotic crusaders" of the aforementioned thread. And yes, I am fully aware of the hypocrisy of posting my opinions against the opinionated :-)

Heh, heh... no, seriously. You're right. It's very stupid and I'll post my remarks on the thread right after I click the "post button" for this one.

But where's the interest in that? There's nothing interesting in having a bunch of people agreeing with you. If it were that way nobody would have anything to say because we'd all know the answer!

Here's some other clichés: "Opposites attract." "Opposites compliment each other."

As long as we take part in civil debate, there is nothing wrong. I personally don't hold anything against the people who don't agree with me or see my side, in fact, I encapsulate each thread and do not base other threads off my opinions of the person in the first.

Heh. I came back to check. I guess I'm a lying bastard, shoot me. Blindfold my donkey first, though.

But, all nonsensical raving aside, you'll have to forgive me. I'm no tyro, and I've seen many posts like this. I know it's slightly (ahem, *SLIGHTLY*) unrealistic, but I'm just the kind of moronic ass that would like everyone to get along, and E.A. was polarizing a number of people, even to the extent that talk of it spilled over onto other boards, and I just wanted to STOP THE INSANITY!(I guess that makes me a quixotic crusader. Actually, more of an Assinine Avenger) Besides, what the hell do you want from me, my weary brain crapped this thread out at four o'clock in the morning :-)

Oh, btw, Xotor, I didn't say everyone should agree, I said that people should respect and accept the fact that other people hold opinions apart from their own.

Well, that's my piece, recommense raving in

P.S.- If anything good is to come out of this thread, may it be the birth of the Three Stooges Emoticon. Those guys kick righteous comedic ass!
