Remember Bungie's "Marathon"? Multiplayer questio

Remember that sweet first person shooter that was sort of a basis for Halo? The Marathon trillogy by Bungie from way back? I've been trying to figure out which of the various free versions I and my room mates should download for multiplayer use. I tried Alpha One, but I can't get the multiplayer to actually start the games. Anyone got any info that will help, either tips on how to make Alpha one work or recomendations for other versions? We're using both macs and PCs, all with OSX or XP.

I remember multiplayer working fine on Aleph One, though it's been so long that I can't remember any details about how to get it set up. I do remember it being pretty simple though, so you're probably just missing a few set-up instructions.
