Remote access and Fallout problems

Hotel California

Mildly Dipped
Ok, I'm lazy and odd. I've got two PCs running off one interface and can't be bothered changing all the plugs around. I downloaded RealVNC which is basically a remote server thingymajig and it lets me see on the new pc what the old pc sees. Basically i've not installed FO on my new machine but would like to try to use it over the thingy.

It has that whole wrong colour thing and then the cursor is a little black square that doesn't do anything. It won't let me go further than the main menu.

As it is remote access its windowed.

My new pc is XP professional, and the old is regular XP.
The system specs are both compatable with all things.
They are both in 32bit colour
New is at 1024x768 res, old is 800x600.

It seems that this happens for a lot of my other old games too. What exactly do games do when they start to the whole visual set up that may not be right for the new computer?

I realise this is a very specific and unusual problem but any help would be great!

Thanks

In theory, any applications run on the computer they're installed on. Eg. if you use RealVNC to control a PC and run Notepad on it, notepad is run on the remote computer, everything is computed on there as well, so basically only the graphical output itself is transferred to the local PC, and the input is transferred to the remote PC.

This really sounds like an issue with RealVNC. Either because RealVNC transfers the graphics wrong (I don't see how, though), or because VNC somehow messes with the graphis on the remote PC.

or just buy a hardware KVM switch if the computers are located near eachother.
