Removing Character Creation!

Is there anyway to remove the option to create a main character when you start a new game in Fallout Tactics.

I am trying to start a new game with certain characters, and I want to remove the thing that forces you to create a character when you click to begin.

I searched all over the forums, and FT tools.

1) I already made the first map (BrahmWood) start with the characters I want and with out spawning the character you create.

2) But when you go to any other area (Bunker1) he spawns, and becomes main character.

*So what I am asking is, how do I start the campaign with out a main character*

By the way I am a big Fallout fan, first time I played I was like 13, found 1 & 2 for 10 dollars, and I bought it right when I left the store, after a while I started to love it.
 
I learned how to prefab the characters, now I want to know how do I

I want to be able to select 1 of 4 characters, after I chose which one is my main, the other 3 will still spawn in the map, and the one I chose will be my main. Is there any way to do this?

I want to put a character in Prefab and remove the ones that are currently there. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

As for replacing the prefabs, have you read the tutorials? Though easiest way is just to save your new ones with the same filename as the originals.

To spawn different characters depending on which prefab you choose you'll have to create two sets of characters and give them all different tagnames.

The first set will replace the existing prefabs and give them all seperate tagnames, for example bert1, colin1, diana1. Then the other set add to the map and tagname them something like bert2, colin2, diana2.

Then you'll need a trigger (for each prefab) to check which prefab you choose.

Condition
bert1 has more than 0 alive anywhere

Action
change unit bert2's player to (deactivated player index)

then you'll need to add a player index set to deactivated so that the duplicated character will disappear.
 
Hello.

I'm interesting the same that topicstarter - remove button "new character" in character selection screen, or maybe make it unpushable\unusable, or make it broken in other way.

I tried to modify BoS.exe file by hex editor application, because I found info on russian fallout forum, how to empty players inventory in default FOT campaign using hex editor. But unfortunately, for this time the best result that i got - game lock-up when i press "new character" or "modify character" buttons (unlock by 1 press of Alt+F4)

If someone know how to make it more accurately, please help me. Sorry for my English.
 
You can disable the 'create' button in singleplayer but not the modify button. Simply open up your prefered graphics program like photoshop or gimp and create a new image 1 pixel x 1 pixel. Colour it brown for example rgb 44, 36, 25 and save it as a png. Then use the FT Tools png to zar option to convert it to a zar file. Copy the zar and name one version 6.zar and the other 9.zar. Then create a directory [mypath]/gui/btn/med and place both zars inside. Then when you start a new game there will be no 'create' option, just 'take' and 'modify'.

You don't need to hex the exe to get rid of starting items just open any item you want to remove, in FT Tools entity editor. Then under 'collectable' untick the box 'lootable' and tick the box 'remove on exit'. Though if you still want the items to show up in the rest of the campaign you'll need to make a copy first rename it slightly and add it to the maps/quarter master list.
