Request: Photoshop plugin for FRM

taag

Still Mildly Glowing
Is there someone knowledgeable of creating Photoshop plugins? I think it would be an excellent replacement for current solutions and we could manipulate (import, export, edit) FRMs on the fly.

I'd like to see something that will automatically cut large art into the tiles rather than importer/exporter of existing FRMs...

I think you could do that with a batch conversion. I'm pretty sure wild_qwerty could put something together. Actually, a Photoshop FRM plugin would solve our problems

I've used PS quite extensively for mass FRM editing. I've never created plugins, but you can do some nifty automations and batch conversions with it. For example: colour replacement, resizing etc. But yes, the decompiling, editing, and recompiling process alone takes hours. A plugin would be nice. But first i think you need enough manpower to do the art editing.

It is very unfortunate they never used layered sprites in FO, as it would have lent so much more modding potential to the graphics of the game.

In case of mass editing of existing FRMs for sure. But try to create a totally new wall set from the scratch and you'll see that converting ~60 pieces is nothing and is quite pleasure task :o 99% of time you're spending on rendering (3d package), cutting (PS) and adjusting (Mapper + Frame Animator).

Indeed, 2d engine without layered sprites is a really bad idea :?

Nah, I doubt any plugin could solve such problems as cutting into pieces or adjusting Frames Offsets.

Wait, I always thought PS had auto cutting feature?

Frameanimator has autocutting. Never found it useful personally.
