Restoration Project Crash

Malatar

First time out of the vault
Hello all. Just reinstalled my OS and figured I'd do a Fallout 2 run for fun. Installed FO2 with my CD, patched with Restoration Project 2.1.2b, and edited the ddraw.ini file as follows.

Changed resolution to 1920x1200 and set graphic mode to 4. Then I remembered that I needed GPUBlT=1 or I'd get slowdowns on my system.

Now it crashes with "instruction at 27bea3 referenced memory doesn't exist". If I turn off GPUBlt then it loads fine, but the mouse and running are slow and unresponsive.

Any suggestions? It worked fine before my reinstall...

Question: why are you interested in running the game in graphic mode 4? You wish to record videos with Fraps or something?

Is it possible that the draw area is just too big at that resolution for whatever memory space it's reserving/referencing there? 1920x1200 is really, really large for the Fallout games, and doesn't really provide much benefit aside from letting you see more of the screen that you normally wouldn't.

That isn't really the case, if I understood it right, he changed the resolution in ddraw, not f2_res, so the game is in it's native resolution.

;If using a dx9 mode, this changes the resolution
;The graphics are simply stretched to fit the new window; this does _not_ let you see more of the map
GraphicsWidth=640
GraphicsHeight=480

My suggestion to Malatar: run the game in graphic mode 0 (8 bit), go to Options, then SCRN, and change what you want there. If the game crashes, try other options, until you are satisfied.
