RL fallout?

First time out of the vault
I have to point out that the Great war is definatly probable.
Anexing Canada is logical due to their "abundant" proven resourses (Oil, coal, timber, ect.)
expecially with the US having burned through half of it's oil resourses by 1971. and by 2008 being almost totally dependant on imports. (without taping into the ocean shelf and or more Alaskian fields)

War with China China is currently the biggest contender to the US (economicly, militarily) and they own 30% of our $9.5 trillion debt. if we can't/won't pay we are in for war.

Nuclear war if we are out of oil (or opec embargo's the us) we can't wage a drawn out conventional war, our tanks will fall apart or sit dead in fields, our production of amunition with halt, and our planes will be grounded. if we are faced with complete anialation we might choose to use the one weapon that we have en-mass Nukes. you can't protect your country from 3-400 ICBM's coming at you. and China would'nt hesitate to retaliate.

also 2077 may be a good # for the year too. according to Wikipedia we have 65yrs left of oil in the top 12 reserves at current consumption rates. that means that we dont add a single plant, car, plane, oil spill, ect. in that 65 yrs.(not likely) and war will mostlikely happen before the supply is all gone.

Maybe so, but would US really do something like that? It would ruin it's relations with other countries ( well, unless Europeans just sit and watch TV while US starts war for oil. But then there's NATO )

This is pretty good point. War with China seems actually possible if US isn't able to pay it's bills.

You forgot the next ice age. Wasn't it coming in what, 50 years?

That would make us Canadians very angry.

Sounds very unlikely. Could make a pretty good game though. If the US was to send nukes to china it wouldn't be an overnight decision. The same goes for China. They do want their money back, not some radiated unusable landmass. What would happen with the US dollar if the US went away? Mass depression? There's probably no real return policy for that scenario among the cash exchange offices around the world. No, there will probably be some kind of resource exchange if it ever gets to that. Or new types of fuels.

Also, sell your stock!

LOL I'm sure most of the world is the same way... it's sort of sad. One thing about you Americans is that sense of patriotism and pride most of you seem to have. I dont know if it's because it's taught in your schools at a young age or it just is the way it is because thats the way it'll always be and thats all. When I tell other people that I work at the Canadian Space Agency they're like..."We have a space agency...?" as you can see there arent really many Canadian patriots, although those who like Canada like it ALOT.

I believe they'll discover a way to get it :boy:

It is all possible man, whats the range of a nuke, bout 11 miles? I live 40 miles from Chicago here, that's what I'm more worried about.

If your talking range of the actually delivery vehicle for the warhead, than the range is unlimited...

If your talking about the blast of the warhead then, depending on the yield of said warhead, you would probably see blast and fire damage to about 25 miles, and radiation damage for 100's of miles away. Also depending on winds and yield it could damage living things as much as 400 miles away.

Agreed.

Since we're not a major contender on the world stage, the fallout (LOL C WAT I DID THAR) is our only threat if such a war would break out.

Radiation damage isn't that bad if you know what to do, barricade yourself in the basement until about 2 weeks. Do not eat anything in your house that wasn't canned and down there with you.

Right?

China and America aren't going to go to war. China isn't big on the world domination thing, they just want to improve China.

America invading Canada is silly.
And of course they wouldn't dare, Zombie Isaac Brock is waiting for them.

we might annex Canada if some one had the military power to take Alaska. Annexing means you just kinda get it, so they probably let us take them over for military protection?

America annexing Canada was intentionally over the top and was not supposed to be even close to realistic. The intention was to show, along with all the other elements of the intro movie, that the Fallout universe was different than our own and to setup the violence and conflict.

Interplay wasn't trying to support some Anti-Canadian jingoism.
