Robot Huntin' Time

I am working on collecting weapons to use against the robots, since regular small arms don't do much more than dent the armor.

As per possibly another design flaw with the game I can't keep developing more than a couple of skills at once and my energy weapons skills are low (never even found them until Junction City, so I had no need to develop skills with them) and I can't find more than a smattering of pulse grenades in random encounters. Even the mini guns don't do a lot against them.

What other weapons work good against robots? I need something to fight these damn things.
 
Energy weapons are the way to go. Plasma rifles and Laser rifles are in abundance and can take out most low-level robots in 3 shots. Later on Gatling Lasers and Pulse Rifles are the weapons to use.

I'd recommend working up at least 2 people with energy weapon skill. I don't know where you are in the game, but you don't pick up Gauss guns until later on and they are the small arms that work the best. Use the Tag! perk to tag energy weapons on a couple of guys if you want to make your life easier.

If you have a guy or two with high Big Guns skill, stock up on .50 cal ammo and use Browning M2s. They work pretty good on the robots. Rocket launchers work good and you can get electrical rockets later on in the game as well.

Also, if you've gotten the grenade launchers (if you are up to robots you should have some) those 40mm grenades work nicely also.
 
Gauss minigun, which you get at Beuno vista, is the ultimate weapon. usually does anywhere from 150-500, depend on range, and always hits several targets at once.. before that, have as many pulse weapon as you can gather, and long range use laser rifle, even pulse pistol works wonders, as for gauss rifle, never find it useful unless sniping
 
Thanks for the info. I am just about to encounter the robots on an official mission, but get them in random encounters like mad.

Question. I bought a guass pistol from the merchant. Is there a mission or place I can get ammo for it? I know its rare and I was quite frankly surprised I got it.
 
It's on the same building and same floor where you find Kerr the merchant, there's a room southwest of Kerr, in it is about 5 robots, the one closest to the door has the gauss minigun.

careful don't get hit by it, it can tear up 2 team members in 1 round without doing critical.. literarly
 
Which bunker? I am in Delta right now and it wasn't on the list.
