Robot Sprites

Rustered

First time out of the vault
Hello all. Not too tech savvy, so I apologize if this question is overly simple.

Installed the full Tactics set up. Running latest patch (1.27?). Posting from work so all system spec are approx.:

Athelon 900 processor
256K Ram
Nvida GForce Graphics Card
Sound Blaster sound card
Running Win98

Computer was bought in 2001 and as far as I know all drivers are most recent versions.

Didn't get past the St. Louis mission when I played before, but my girlfriend started playing lately and got to the end of the game. Problem is that aside from the humanoid bots, none of the robot sprites appear on the map and they don't fight back. Only way she beat them was getting close and putting the characters in aggressive mode to force them to shoot at the bots. After she finished the game we uninstalled and reinstalled and she played through again. Same thing happened.

All that said, I'm guessing that the sprites may have been put into the wrong directory, or simply not copied from the CD during install. Does anyone know how to install the sprites manually and what file/directory they need to go into? We both would like to finish the game on a legitimate basis, having to fight our way through. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem, the rest of the robot sprites are in a different file to the humanoid bots and when doing an install my dvd drive won't read that file. You can try doing a manual install, they are on cd3, under cd3/core IIRC. The folder is called something like spr_mechanical (sorry I'm logging on from the library) but just compare with the core folder on your hard drive and copy over the missing folder. You might need to use a different drive (or computer) to read the file, my dvd drive wouldn't do a manual install, thankfully I've got an old external cd rewriter which was able to read it.

I think there was a problem with the production of this CD, I think you can download the sprite file from interplay. Though I might be mixed up with something else
