Rock Falls - can't open big door

This is the level where you find the scientist with the artifact, and you have to open a big door to get at the main raider boss. I got the key and opened the door to the switch room that is supposed to open the big gate - only it does nothing. How is it supposed to open?

Make sure that nobody is in the way of the doors and flip the switch.
