Running FFAT on a network HD, how?

I was told by support that you couldnt run fallout from a networked hd, however that is the only place I have space to install the game to.

any ideas as to how i could get it working? Ive tried all the patches too

basically the game goes to open, does the standard black flash, then goes back to nothing =/
