Runtime Error...!!!

Solidus

First time out of the vault
Guys... I'm having a serious problem with my Fallout Tactics game.. I have NO IDEA how to fix it..

I get an error called RUNTIME ERROR.. It gives no number, no nothing..

My windows is XP Pro.. My DirectX is the one that came with my fallout tactics CD..

I heard a rumor sometime ago that MY P4 motherboard can't hold the Direct X that I have.. Or maybe its just bullshit.. Donno..

If anyone knows the solution, then spit it out.. If you need any more info about my PC, please ask..

Cheers..

Firstly, have you tried to search for a solution about this error?

Secondly, please don't use colors it's so tacky..

Thirdly, what does the exact error message say ?

You might want to check the directX control panel and set the sound to full..

Okay fine.. Color changed..

About the latest Direct X.. I already have it and its installed into my system..

About the errors.. I'll install fallout now and show it to you..

Well I found this at google: http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=e...d+not+create+primary+and+back+surfaces"&meta=

But I cant read that langauge (polish I think? It has big PL there anyway) But it seems that someone else with FOT had this error.

Questions:
Also from the error message by anychance do you have a phoenix BIOS on your motherboard? And are you using an onboard video card? Also what model motherboard are you using?

Recomendations:
I would recomend updating your video card drivers, then possibily your motherboards chipset drivers. And lastly try doing a BIOS update on your PC. Be VERY careful when flashing your motherboard as your could kill it. And make sure that you load the BIOS for the EXACT same motherboard model as yours or it will kill it.

Whoa!! Looks like I gotta work on this motherboard..

Its P4..

Btw, how can I know if I have the pheonix bios thing on the motherboard? Isn't there a way I could know? (This pc ain't mine) And what about the onboard video card?

Ahhh.. Why couldn't it just work easily..!!!

BTW.. A question.. How can I know the power of my graphic card

Like Odin said update the video card drivers first. What version of windows are you running

What was the solution ?

I still have no idea.. The internet here in my country is SLOW, so I can't do the things above in the right way..

Alright.. I'll try to update them.. Could the problem be in the motherboard by any chance? My bro says that the motherboard can't take the DIRECT X.. Its a P4.. I don't think that it has anything to do with it, what do you think?

My operating system is XP Pro..

Sounds like bullshit to me, a P4 motherboard should have no problem with directx, hell I had directx on my old P1 motherboard..

It's much more probable that it's a vide card issue. Update the video card drivers (or revert to older ones!)

Make sure you have the latest version of directX installed.

If you really think there might be an issue with the motherboard, make sure you have the latest BIOS for it and drivers. Though I seriously doubt that'll be the source of theproblem (yet you never know...) The best place ot find those would be on the motherboard manufacturer's site.
