Safe characters

I hated the fact that I accidentally shot the guy who sold me the car, and then he became hostile, but if I managed to get close enough and talk to him, he would talk to me normally, but when the conversation ended, he would attack me again. I think there should be some safety mechanisms for events like that. I mean, a way to steal the car, or to get another mechanic to fix it, or to have it’s ghost fix it, or something. The car is only an example. There should be a way to avoid accidentally trigger events that could stop you from finishing the game .
 
Well not getting the car doesn't exactly stop you finishing the game but it is annoying and all though i only "Accidents" I had were "Accidently" shooting ian in the back in Fallout 1 i still would like to see a system like that
