Same Problem

So I decided to attempt to play Fallout 1 again. I got the new-ish disk with 1,2,and tactics on it. But same as last time my computer appears to be just too damn awesome and all I get are a bunch of very pretty colours. I attempt to run it on a lower version of Windows but I get the notification that I need Windows 95 (rather funny seeing that while running Windows 7) so I do some tramping and find the High Res Patch and the "Patch I need to run the High Res Patch"

but for the life of me those instructions might as well by in Aramaic. Is there anyone here who could give me Grandma installing instructions? I have both the patches and WinRAR installed.

Go here and grab the resolution patch for F1 - read the instructions, blah, blah.

You could also try the PaletteStealerSuspender utility, worked for me on W7.
