Scene Scroll Problem in both Fallout 1 & 2 (Windows XP)

Question about Fallout...

I have this weird problem for both games. I was able to install both versions fine and play them fine for the most part, there is just this one major problem that really screws up my enjoyment of the ending of the game. You know those picture screens it flashes up there after you die? Shows your bones in the desert and whatnot... Well part of the ending of the game is also told with picture screens like those, and for some reason, with both Fallout 1 and 2, it flashes those screens so fast I cannot even read them.

I have no idea how parts of Fallout 1 ended because they flashed by so fast and I can't find a way to see them. Is there a button I can hold down to pause it from flashing them away so fast? Or some other setting I can fix to make sure I can enjoy those scenes toward the end of the game and when I die, etc?

Yes I've set my .exe compatability to try in both '95 and '98/ME mode. I've used a few different 'slow down' programs but that doesn't seem to be the issue, since the rest of the game is operating as it should be other than these picture scenes. None of those things changes the problem. The game still runs perfectly, except for these picture scenes flying by too fast.

Any ideas?

Try setting the Directx sound and graphics acceleration lower. See the stickies as to how to do that.
