Screen fades in and out

I'm running Fallout 2 with the 1.05 patch (with the update) on Win 98 2nd edition.

I just installed Fallout 2 on this computer and almost every screen that tries to load it slowly fades in or slowly fades out. For example, when I use Doctor or First Aid and the screen goes to refresh as the action is attempted, I now have to wait for the screen to fade in and out. I've never had this happen on my other computer and It's really annoying.

I'm relatively certain it has to do with the video card settings, but not sure what I need to change. This computer has an ATI Radeon 7200 (32MB SDR) card installed.

Ideas anyone??
 
I seem to be having this same problem too. Although with Fallout1 and Fallout 2. The fade to black(or white) seems to take a lot longer then it should. Didn't happen when I was using my now fried Geforce2 MX 400.

OS : Window 98SE
CPU : PIII 700
Memory : 384 MB
DirectX : 9.0b
Video Card : RADEON 7000 32MB
 
happened to me the other day after installing 1.05 patch too.. but everything was a-ok after that... hmm...

running a radeon card too.. so most probably its not caused by the graphic card or driver
