Sean K Reynolds speaks out

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
On his boards, Sean has made some comments in regards to BIS and FO. Here are a few bits:

-Just because all of the Fallout fans are pissed because Van Buren was (according to Damien) shelved doesn't mean that _all_ of BIS' fans are pissed

-Yes, a lot of people were laid off (a LOT). But the people who remain are just as committed to making good games as when we were hired, and saying that BIS is dead is unfair and/or uninformed.

-I think you're exaggerating the proportions of some of the BIS fanbase "factions." BIS fans are not just Fallout fans. There are a LOT of people who bought BGDA, and are looking forward to BGDA2, and would probably be looking forward to a BGDA3 if there ever was one

-I'm not saying that there aren't a number of vocal, ardent fans who make themselves seem more numerous than they actualy are. Even D&D has that problem (most commonly recognized by them saying "Well, everyone I know loves Setting X and won't play in any other setting...").

Thanks to zorrelak69 for pointing this out on the Iply boards.

This worries me. There are rumours interplay are thinking of resurrecting the sodomised corpse of FO3 given the backlash it caused. This post could be 'damage control' done by one of the two remaining members of BIS who have been assigned to work on FO3 again. If this is the case, Interplay really, really don't have a clue.
Oh, and Sean, BIS is dead. Don't insult us by buying into the interplay bullshit.

Christ -

Just let it die without trying to screw the corpse.

Last thing we need is a bunch of console-centric action types standing in line to take a poke at FO3.

I've seen a lot of sad bullshit in my time but this..this is just....
does he really takes us for retarded-mindless-clueless-comp.geeks?
Just because all of the Fallout fans are pissed because Van Buren was (according to Damien) shelved doesn't mean that _all_ of BIS' fans are pissed

oh yes it does, how is BIS(rest in peace..)supposed to make BGDA2 with 2 people??!!everyone's pissed moron!

Yes, a lot of people were laid off (a LOT). But the people who remain are just as committed to making good games as when we were hired, and saying that BIS is dead is unfair and/or uninformed.

words of wisdom....NOT!A LOT???there is only 2 left!and i'm sure they are still committed to making good games BUT THEY CAN'T WITH ONLY 2 PEOPLE!

read the firt one if you didn't get my point...

whell THIS ONE takes the cake,he's basicly(not good at english am I?)saying that we're a little group of mad little geeks who are saying "oh,where angry and there's many many of us" and that we're narrow-minded because we cannot adapt to the GREAT ACTION SHOOTER that POS will be..

eat my shorts..

At first, I was going to ask you why you wanted to post about anything that sad pseduo-primadonna would write, but I needed the laugh. For a "webmaster", his site is easily trumped by that of ezboards. Who puts their menu system into a disjointed table like that? Sean K Reynolds, the Frontpage Express MASTAR!

Other than that, he does remarkably well as Interplay's Minister of Information. He has the nouns at his disposal, he just arranges them into some laughably idiotic sequences.

Sean, take a hint. Origin is considered a dead company for the very same reasons. The people that mattered most to the composition of BIS are no longer there.

:/ Dear God. Sammael must be *pissed* at that last comment Reynolds made. He's simply working the wordplay machine to twist everything in his - and interplay's - favour. It's not even the Interplay forums he's doing it at, his own. He has a job to keep but he doesn't have to take a picture of his face up IPLY's nether end.

Not even that. He just posted some absolutely lame reply in response to Sammael's points, and it doesn't help that Reynolds' reply had little relevence to them.

SKR, I know you're still employed by IPLY and for all we know they made you say that but man... BIS is DEAD!

Oppos, better watch what I say before they demod and ban me. :look:

Precisely. It's downright rude after Sammael's excellent posts, which they would be no matter whether we agreed to them or not. Reynolds is just sitting there picking his nose.

What the heck is Reynolds doing over there anyway? Doesn't seem like they're working on any RPGs anymore...

Which reminds me of something amusing- still on the BIS FAQ:
What is Black Isle Studios again?
Black Isle is a division of Interplay, created to focus on RPG's and the RPG gamer.

Why should I care?
Because you have a dedicated group of RPGer's working at Interplay to create the absolute best RPG's! We work on nothing else.

Do they really expect anyone to believe this garbage?

Note: that's a rhetorical question, but sheesh

skr mentions attending "design" meetings so he may be working on either the next incarnation of POS ooooorrrr... the rumor mill is true and Iply freaked at the backlash (not a gaming rag around that hasn't bashed them a bit) and has put a small team on it to see what can be salvaged...

i'm still curious why skr was not sacked given that he was the lead FO3 designer with JEs departure... very odd, IMO.

No big deal, everything that was said about the PC BIS developers is true. All that's left are those who were pulled to Fallout Enforcer and those that worked on BG:DA2.

I've got to agree. Mr. Reynolds seems to make points that are generally true but inconsequential to whatever Duke Sammael was saying.

Well, my computer breaks down and I don't repair it for four months and look what happends!

-Just because all of the Fallout fans are pissed because Van Buren was (according to Damien) shelved doesn't mean that _all_ of BIS' fans are pissed

Maybe not all of them, but the BIS fans that liked all of BIS's work would be quite angry.

-Yes, a lot of people were laid off (a LOT). But the people who remain are just as committed to making good games as when we were hired, and saying that BIS is dead is unfair and/or uninformed.

The BIS that existed before is gone. All that is left are new people making console games. Not the old people making computer games. BIS is effectively dead as it was previously known.

-I'm not saying that there aren't a number of vocal, ardent fans who make themselves seem more numerous than they actualy are. Even D&D has that problem (most commonly recognized by them saying "Well, everyone I know loves Setting X and won't play in any other setting...").

So BIS doesn't have many fans? That's rather silly to say. The most ardent fans enjoyed everything BIS made, including Fallout. That's not to say that all Fallout fans enjoyed every other BIS product, but you should never allienate your fans. Look what happends when that's done, you don't make many friends.

I'm just some old school 19 year old computer gamer living here in Michigan. I was looking forward to Fallout 3, because I bought most of the BIS products. I liked every single one of them, I would've bought Fallout 3. I don't own a console, they give me less freedom to enjoy the games and to work. I'm sorry for everyone who was fired by Interplay who worked at BIS. I was a big fan of yours and I enjoyed your work.

I consider BIS to still be alive in the same way that Origin is still alive i.e. not anything worthy of note.
Obviously that's from a fan's perspective and not a marketing, financial suit perspective. Whilst I realise that there are people's jobs on the line, I cannot wait for the day interplay rolls over and dies and Caen and his minions get what they deserve for screwing just about everyone over. Given that they're incompetant idiots, that day will be soon, hopefully soon after FO:POS breaks records for lowest selling game on any platform in recent years.

I'll apologize for me, if I ever said anything, it was in regards to Black Isle PC gaming. Black Isle is one of my favorite developers, I enjoyed Dark Alliance on PS2 and was excited when I saw their logo on screen the first time I booted it up. However, many people were upset when the PC devision was laid off, and may have written posts that were out of anger and were not thinking clearly.

I have no apologies for what has been said about higher management of Interplay though, they are ruining what once was my favorite game companies. I sincerely hope Interplay pulls out of this and returns to what it once was.

*edit, but not with the policy that they are following. With their original policy of By Gamers For Gamers.
