First time out of the vault
HI guys! Im new here! :)
Im very happy to be part of this forum because im a huge fallout fan!

Straight to the point: im trying to create my own game (not a mod) and I would like to use fallout characters. the problem is that I cant find them!
can anyone help me?

thanks!

You'll find all characters/creatures frames in CRITTER.DAT in your Fo2 cd/installation folder. Unpack them with a .DAT packer/unpacker.
Is your project a commercial one? I hope you DO realize there are a few troubles with copyrights and intellectual property... Until you use those graphics as placeholders I don't think you're going to face troubles... Not if you avoid boasting them around, anyway. I'd be cautious even to use them for free, non commercial projects too. I warmly encourage you to pay a visit to Gamedev.net, they have plenty of links to get free, safe graphics for games.
Good luck for your project.

ok thanks!

im just programming a game for personal use, I dont mean to share it!

thanks again! bye :)

Why create a games that nobody can play?

So I guess this information will come in handy:
http://wiki.fifengine.de/index.php?title=Category:Original_documentation

Feel free to check out our code to see how we access the Fallout file formats:
https://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/fife/engine/browser/trunk/core/src/engine

If you use our code and ever publish binaries, you'll need to publish your sourcecode too as FIFE is licensed under the GPL v2.0
