Sepia Storm

A large storm system moved over Chicago yesterday evening, bringing a large amount of rain and hail. This wasn't anything too unusual nor extreme but for about 15 minutes, when the sun was setting, there was a sudden change in lighting and cloud cover.

For a couple of minutes, everything was extremely yellowish brown, not just the sky but everything on the ground. It looked like i was looking through some weird colored sun glasses. During the same time a rainbow formed in the east. This was the most perfect rainbow i ever saw, since the entire arch was so vivid against the brownness of the sky.

About 10 minutes later, the sepia filter over the sun seemed to have lifted. Then the sky divided itself in 3 sections: Dark clouds, bright yellow clouds, and a part that was completely clear. My house was directly under the divisions. It really looked amazing.

Luckily, i had a camera to capture these images. I'm not sure how great they look as photos (especially since i had to significantly resize them), but its the best i got:

Sepia Storm

Crazy Clouds

These images are not filtered at all, even though the ones in the "Sepia Storm" album look like they've been taken with some 70s black and yellow camera. Everything really looked like the photos show (the rainbow is fainter though). These two photos nicely show the color difference between a normal day and yesterday:

My Neighbor's garage with normal cloudy sky

This probably won't be a very exciting topis by itself so maybe you guys have some crazy weather photos you can include too.

Nice pics, KQX. Props for getting your ass out and taking pics.

But, um, the two last links lead to a 403 error: forbidden.

Nice pics. this one is particularly cool.

The pictures of your neighbour's garage look like they are CG. Odd.

Shame we don't have any interesting weather where I live.
