when trying to tinkert with something, i deleted my critters file from the C drive, and F2 ceased to play. I reinstalled it- same prob. How do i get critters back?

Can't you just copy the critter.dat from the CD in the Fallout2 directory?

Also, make sure the fallout2.cfg file (in the same dir) contains following lines:

master_dat=C:\Games\Fallout2\master.dat
master_patches=data
critter_dat=C:\games\Fallout2\critter.dat
critter_patches=data

Of course you understand that the "C:\Games\Fallout2\" part must be replaced by the directory where you installed Fallout2.

I don't think it will work. If you can copy master.dat and other files, and cannot copy critter.dat, then it's probably as Odin said - your CD is "EMPTY!! Tooh-toooohhh..." :cry:. Get another one.

Nope!

I installed F2 on my laptop a few mins ago. It was fine and i could play it. Any ideas now?

Could just be your CDROM drive that a little sensitive, try whiping the cd and try again. (oh and you do have enough space for it on your HDD?)

OR your CD drive is too fast. If you have a DVD-ROM , it could very well be that you should try doing it with some other medium(I've had it a few times, some games work better when playing/installing from my cd-rewriter...)

Or perhaps it was just a one-time thing, in which case you should just try and try again...

You`re so right, Planescape Torment and Sim City were hell to install on my comp until i put them on the cd-rw instead on the DVD drive....

erm..we have all come to the conclusion that a reformat of your HDD isn't going to do the trick,so why do it ?

Test the cd out on a friends cd and see if it works fine there, if it does then I'd try using a different CDrom drive.

Odin said it, I'll repeat:

Maybe your CD drive is not quite the best tool in the box, so to speak. If your CD is scratched (or somehow else damaged) very little, so that most CD-ROMs can read it, then maybe your CD-ROM has some problems of it's own (like mine) so that it can't read CDs with so little damage that other CD-ROMs can (My CD is so crappy I usually take about 10 minutes to get ANY disc to even read in the first place (Except for PrimeDisc - those always go on the first run) - that's what you get for $1.75.

Just went down to the shop and bought a F1/F2 combo. Put the new disk in, same prob reading the critter data during installation. What should i do with my drive then?

Hell buy a new CD ROM drive or better yet a burner, they're not that expensive any more..
