One thing I really liked about Fallout 2's ending was its uncertainty:Stuff the end video sequence, did I do enough to save Gecko, did I stop slavery in the Wastes etc? This increased the playability of F2 for me a hundredfold
Howerver, in F2, I had to save my pesky tribals from the enclave before I could see how well I did overall. Why not show what you achieved if you are killed, or if you decide to "settle down" (ie choose to stop playing)? I would even hazard offering a score based on what you accomplish
