SF, Chinatown bug

Josan

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
This is the second time I've encountered this bug and it is bugging me.

I can't get into Chinatown. If I try direct from the world map, it just locks up and I have to reboot. Same thing if I try going to the Docks, Tanker or Hubologists maps first then trying Chinatown.

This happened to me back in the summer and I just gave up. Since then I've wiped my pc and reinstalled everything and bang, here's that little bug again. Its a humongous install, no mods and it's from the dual jewel version which, I believe, was pre-patched. I've played the game through plenty of times and never had this problem before.

Any guesses/fixes?

So it would seem. I've never had it before but I used that handy old walk through to try the diff save game files and now I can get into CHinatown. However, I lost my npcs that I had waiting for me. Grrr.

I noticed I had to sfchina saves. sfchina and sfchina2. What's that all about?

I think the first is Chinatown and the Shi base, while the second is the Hubologist base and Brotherhood bunker.

Sometimes the save games get corrupted, unfortunately, but I don't know why. This has happened to me in FO1 necropolis and FO2 vault city (vault) and SF (tanker). Had to go back to a previous save game.

That's what I wound up doing. Load up a save from a year back game time. Dumped pretty much everything in my trunk (I'm a pac rat with quest items) and now I'm happily cruising around at level 42 just blowing shit up with me, Vic and Cassidy all using gauss rifles.

Yeah, I'm bored. I know. Some times I just load it up to cruise around looking for fights.
