Ok, This may not actually be that shockingly good and may have already been sugested, but ive never heard it before and the idea just hit me while I was reading a post saying "I always wanted to be diped and play as a super mutant..."

How about F3 sees you as a super mutant who was newly dipped when the master was destroyed.. you emerge from a wrecked military base surrounded by bodys of mutants, you have no idea what has happened or why you are here... the dipping has wiped your memory. As you go through the game, you meet up with people, and you either clobber them or make friends with them. You wander the wastes looking for clues, untill you learn of the man who destroyed all the other super muties.. and you go after him bent on revenge... you are hot on his heels, everywhere you go, he has just been.. you learn more and more about what happened in F1 and why, and you slowly come to the realisation that the man who destroyed most of your kind is not evil, but it was your kind who were evil... then with this kowledge you decide to leave the man who destroyed your race alone and go off on your own quest, perhaps to help some other super mutants escape from cali towards the east.. this could then take you into a new area with lots of new possibilities...

The thing with this idea is that it could be intrecatly interwoven with the plot of the origional Fallout... The mutant you play never meets up with the origional fallout char, but is surrounded by the situations he has created and the people he knows.

The only problem with this is of course that what every player did in Fallout was unique, and the game (without a HUGE amount of effort) could not possibly take those factors into account....

A way around this would be to just have our super mutie charachter touch upon the major things the vault dweller did and take the new story off in another direction all together.

Flame me all you will, I think its a good idea with a lot of potential and im sticking to that view.

This might look cool but it isn't all that cool. Now to the explanation. A lot of super mutants were dumbasses. This was what the dipping did to them. Only a few would be smarter then a horses ass. So, you can basically throw out things that are linked to intelligence. Anyway, maybe your char. might be one of the 'lucky' ones. Being turned into a super mutant wouldn't do much for you charisma either and people in the wastes at that time would be very, very reluctant about dealing with a mutant. Seeing as how they were the all out 'bad guys' just a little beforehand. It would be shoot first and talk later. If this didn't happen, it wouldn't be consequent with the Fallout line of events.
The way you are proposing things has one mayor difficulty. That is that the developers have to make pretty sure they don't make the game to linear. A lot of Fallouts attraction comes from the fact that it's non linear and it's only linear to a point.
Super mutants also didn't use small gunns or spears or sledge hammers, etc. If all of a sudden they would be able to, it would also be inconsequent to Fallout. Besides with what weapons are you going to start ? Probably with none or with some brass knucks but that would mean that for the earlier part of the game you would only be using these weapons. A lot of weapons would have no use to you. How about armor ? Super mutatns didn't have the ability to wear it and a lot of armours you would find would be totaly useless to you. And what shopkeeper at that point in the Fallout time line would have those armours that a mutant could use? Probably none.
If the developers would implement all the above, it would be another rape of the Fallout time line just as tactics was, but that's just my idea. And this is not flaming you. I just don't agree with your proposal.
