Weren't they going to remake Shogun and Medieval with the Rome: total war graphics? What happened to that?
I'm trying to go back to playing Shogun and Medieval, but after seeing Rome's awesome graphics, it's just too damned hard. One thing I liked better with the previous games was the gameplay, however.
Like the aging. Shogun didn't have any, which isn't very realistic, but I dislike agents aging in Rome, in particular assassins. You barely have time to make them powerful before they die of old age.
And the simplicity in keeping your cities from rioting. Rome requires a number of things, and this is made very hard, especially as I don't have the patch (30 squalor units YAY). In Shogun and Medieval it was basically just about putting lots of units.
All in all, Rome was a good game with the 3D graphics and all, but they removed some of my favorite things from the two first ones. When (if) they make medieval and shogun mods for Rome, I hope they only use Rome's graphics. I've started a pre-patch Scipii campaign, and it just gets too damn frustrating after a while. Especially when you're down to one popularity point with the Senate. I'm going back to Medieval for a while, but I'm not sure I'll stand going back to 2D.
