First time out of the vault
Hi,
I know, it seems i spamming this forum, big sorry for hat, but you guys are so heplful and masters of knowledge in Fallout ;-)

My current problem:
I´m in the the Sierra Army Depot Level 2 and the guides say that a repair bay computer is inside the room in the west with the alternative elevator. I´m in this room but there is no useable computer in it! I need it to deactivate the repair sequence (200XP).

Here is a screenshot:

Where is this thing? The computer right on that screen cant be it ( I already hacked it before) (500XP) and this isnt a repair bay computer!

In the room I´m standing it seems to be right room [elevator] [west] but none of this devices is useable (repairable and using of since also not) . please help me! (Hope its the last time I annoy you guys).

Ok, sorry for the doublepost!
Im using Fallout 2 with US1.02d (latest official Interplay-Patch) and the Resolution patch 2.2. For testing I installed it completly new (1.0) and just patching it to 1.02 (for the compatibility with my savegames).
I also tested some other versions like Killaps 1.04 with no difference.

Then there's something really wrong with your game.

I know that computer is there in Killap's patch and RP but I don't remember if it's something he fixed or that was always there to begin with.

Been a long time since a played with the official patches so my memory is a bit fuzzy

I'll check the readme for Killap's and get back to you in a few minutes

Edit: Nope, there's no mention of anything related to that computer in the readme so I'll assume it's always there.

Also you mentioned trying other patches before. Which ones did you try?

I think i tried this patches:

1.02d:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=82

1.04
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=83

1.05
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=85

Fallout 2 patch 1.051 US (fanmade patch)
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=702

and the Updates for the inofficial F2 1.05 patch
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=77

There is no difference :( Sometimes it crashes with an memory error when loading the savegames and if it works, there is repairbay computer like it should in this room. I also tried going outside and reenter the base.

Those patches are all outdated, you should not use them at all.

Also did you reinstalled F2 after trying each patch? This is because sometimes files can be left behind and that will screw your game

I'll recommend you to install Killap's Unofficial Patch as I know for sure that the computer is there but be warned that your savegames might not be compatible

And if you play with patches you should post problems in the appropriate thread in the modding forum, not here.

No, i dont play with other patches, I just play with US1.02d all the time. The patches I installed was just for testing, but with no success. The only patch I´ve also had, which was not offical, was the resolution patch 2.2. But I already deinstalled this patch with also no change :(

Problem is that once you enter a map it gets saved to your savegames so installing different patches won't affect that map.

What you can do is start a new game and make a run to the Sierra Army Depot and see if the computer is there. If it's there that means your savegame has an incorrect version of the map.

Also: Did you started your current save with the 1.02 official patch? And did you saved when you were testing the other patches?

I have a savegame before I entered the Sierra Base. If I understood you right, with this savegame it should work (if the patch is the reason)? In every patch I installed, I also tested it from this savegame (enter the base the first time and quickly run to lvl 2) => No change, no computer :-(

Hmm, with which Version did I start? I dont know anymore, sorry its a long time ago, but if it were not1.02 the savegames were not compatible after patching, so i think it was 1.02d.

I also decided to ignore this 200XP and the computer, hoping that this kind of weird stuff never happens again, especially for more important things, like mainquests!
I mean, Woah, 200XP - a randomencounter, some kills and I get this 200XP again.

Thank you guys so much for trying to help me!

No problem.

And as you just said it's only 200XP which is a lot less than what you can get from your average random encounter not to mention a lot more loot.

Hope you don't have any more problems with your game.
