Silly Question re: patching out the time limit...

Hello all...Fallout noob here. Been playing it for a bit, then found out about being able to patch it to 1.1 (and after) and how this removes the water chip quest time limit. Here's my question...does a game already in-progress have this time limit removed once the later patches are installed, or does the clock keep counting down? My Pip boy keeps on counting down the days so I can't be sure. Do I have to (arg....) start the game over to get a time-limit-less chance to play the game through?

Ehm, that patch doesn't remove the water-chip time-limit. It removes a *second* time-limit that you could've ran into, though.
