What're MPC files, and are they better/worse than MP3? I've noticed quite a number of people using these lately, and I'm tired of using a player other than Winamp, and I'm tired of converting them to MP3 to put on CD.

Also, what's the deal with APE and OGG? If this is the future, I wish someone would have told me.

OGG is a very good format when it comes to sound quality compared to size...But there are so few programs that support ot...So I quit out on it....I converted most of my Metallica songs (like 120)and I found out that when I used OGG, I had saved 200-300mbs compared tp when I used mp3....Mp3 at higher bitrates though, but the quality of OGG is WAYYYYYYY better!!!!So you don't need to have such an high bitrate...

Winamp supports everything but APE and MPC. After converting these filetypes to MP3, the quality was utter garbage...Too much bass, not enough trebble. Thought it might be a problem with my speaker/soundcard settings, but regular MP3s that aren't converted from other files sound fine.

Is there a sound file converter that does a better job than Alive WAV to MP3 Converter? It converts all the formats between each other, but I don't much like the quality of the end product.

Also, can you burn OGG files to a CD using Nero? Or do you absolutely have to have MP3 or WAV files?
