Lets talk turn mode pros and cons. Last night I played thru the 1st mission in continuous turn mode and found it difficult to control all three characters. I'm thinking I'll try it again in squad turn mode tonight and see if I can make more coordinated attacks. Too bad there is no Baulders Gate style pause function for single player.

I find that CTB works well for coordinated
attacks, but that they have to be more ambush
style.

I have a tendency to set up like 3 guys with
burst weapons, then set a 4th to snipe. As
the enemy comes charging the sniper, they
eventually run into burst range...and die horribly.

I agree, it's difficult to get any sort of
advancement to be coordinated, but you can do
the same thing...duck around corner, run back,
draw enemy into bursts...

I remember ITB from Fallout/Fallout 2, and while it's
kinda fun, I think I'd be bored out of my mind in the
missions. Maybe I should try STB, though.

CTB is 1000x times more rewarding in the entertainment/adrenaline factor to me, and is very good for ambushes and stuff like that.

There's almost no question that at some parts in the game you will almost undoubtedly HAVE to switch to TB, though, as some battles can get pretty damn frantic.

**Small spoiler about mainly inconsequential and unimportany events and sidequest 5th or so mission below**

The first time I had to was in the quincy deathclaw attack on the ghouls, I got slaughtered by both my fire and the enemies, and the ghouls died in CTB mode. In turn based mode, I had more time to set up my positioning for the assault, and I was able to make use of the targetted shots, which lead to the death of the deathclaws, and not a single life on my side (including the ghouls) was lost. On a side note: I've found that the most rewarding sidequest to complete in the entire game, since you get babs the theif in your character pool at the bunker. She is the only theif in the pool so far in my game, and she's gotten me over 17000 worth of money/stimpacks stolen from 1 bunker, and also stole all the med lab's doctor's bags, which weigh in at 4000 each. She is a true godsend.

** Spoiler ended**

To sum it up, I find the game much more enjoyable in CTB (I would have hated St. Louis in TB, but with CTB it truly kicked ass), but I really urge you not to overlook either mode. TB and CTB both have their glaring advantages, and the most enjoyable way to play the game would be a healthy mix of both.

I had the same problem, but solved it by approaching
from slightly further north; I set up my guys for
the ambush scenario, didn't use the ghouls at all, and
the deathclaws were trapped by the fence and shot like
dogs.

You should try playing on easy. Also try a more tactical approach like ambushing. Oh and you can set your people to automatically shoot when they they see someone. Until you get a real good team with big guns and stuff don't try just running into a whole crouds of dudes. So try CTB whith these tips. I am on like the 7th mission I havn't lost anyone yet...So ood luck

STB is much better IMHO. You can really execute complex strategy's that way. And do yourselves a favor, turn up the difficulty to hard.
