Slow

Every few minutes, Fallout will just pause for a minute and things will go very slow. This really messes up my playing. I play Quake 3, Fallout 2, Diablo 2, and The Sims... they work fine, but Fallout is sooooooo slow! I restart my computer whenever I play a different game so what's wrong?


I have 128MB of memory
I have a 600Mhz computer
I have a 50x CDROM
And ATI Rage


Now, what more could I need? Is it something with my video card? I guess it is, but if it is, why don't my other, more complex games mess up?

2 solutions

1. install the patch for fallout

2. check your graphich card drivers. you could try installing older direct x like 5 or 6 and then try playing it

Thanks, I'll go get the patch. I have Direct X 7.0, I think... if I don't, then I have 6.0

Where can I get the patch anyway? I'll see if I can find it before you tell me where...

Direct X 7 would most likely be your problem, lotsa games get bogus stuff with that depending on your setup, go get Direct X 8 from the microsoft site, its hard to find but it is there
