Did you watch it in a crowded bar? It's the only way I can get myself to care at all about the outcome, if I watch it at home, it really doesn't matter who wins or loses. The energy of the crowd though, something infectious.
I was going to bet $50 against my brother, but we both decided the money was better spent on the local bookstore (right next to the bar).

Disappointed but not surprised. I heard if the horse actually won it would be too expensive to allow it to race again- off to pasture from some primo nukki.

Unfortunately for the horse it isn't a fake (Unless German news agencies are in the habit of faking stories). It happened in Germany, I think, about 9-12 months ago, and that photo is from the newstory about it. A group of horses was milling about for some reason when a loud noise from contruction work spooked them out. The horse in the picture decided that running down the highway was the best way to escape the noise, and while there it jumped right into the car. Maybe it was trying to jump over it and miscalculated, I don't know. The most amazing thing about it is that there were two people in the car at the time and both got away unscathed.
You know those German news agencies, they'd fake the death of their own mothers for a better story.
Really, around here, we have quite a few accidents with deer, when they suddenly jump in front of cars. There is much less blood than people would expect. It's the nature of the impact.
