Sneak disabled by immobility -- permanent stats?

I loaded a lot of junk on my main character in the bunker one time, just so's I could sell it to the quartermaster, but then when I started the next mission and was below my load limit, I discovered that my sneak skill was permanently at -5%. It's one mission after that now and my skill still seems the same. Does anyone know of a workaround for this bug or am I screwed unless I decide to go waaay back in my saved games? will the patch fix this?

thanks,

Tuan Jim

Bulky armor really does drop your sneak skill. Are you sure you haven't changed your armor? Anything above the Leather Armor mk.ii will _dramatically_ lower your sneak skill. Going from leather to metal costs you about 30-40% sneak skill, and I don't even know how much more you'll lose with power armors and the kind.. This is a possible solution. You can test it, obviously, by taking off your armor. If your sneaking is hindered, the character screen will have your sneak skill typed in red.

Ok. I am using metal armor Mk 2, but I wasn't expecting my stats to be affected in that way -- I mean the manual didn't mention it (lets get serious -- what did it mention :) ), and I don't recall it working that way in any other Fallout games. Still, if that's the case it certainly answers some other stat related questions I had.

In case u're wondering power armor reduces it by 75%. It also lower most technical schools by 10%

Ok, I can stand having my sneak disabled I'm wearing the armor -- even if it didn't happen before, but when I took it off to try sneaking -- my sneak skill didn't go back to what it was before I originally put the armor on -- what's the problem here?

thanks,

Tuan Jim
