So, the Duke Nukem Forever demo is out...

...and it looks like the game is gonna suck big rancind donkey balls.

SURPRISED ?

-Fan service every two steps
-Horribly dated gameplay, but that was expected ( except not the sluggish mouse control )
-Retarded humor, like, Fallout 3 retarded, but only worse ( don't remember Duke Nukem playing with shit and don't even see how that's the D3D spirit at all ... )
-Unexistent level-design : that second map was pure crap
-Scripts everywhere ( not COD scripts, just "scripts" )
-Weapons kinda suck, action isn't really nervous, even in Come Get Some...
-Game looks empty. If you thought Blacksite looked unfinished, wait until you play this...mmh, might be better if you don't play it at all.
-Overall, graphics look worse than Half Life 2 ( way worse ) and design is kinda shitty...Feels like a Duke Nukem mod for Quake 4 or something.

I hate it.

I agree with all the points you made, I couldn't even find the strength to complete this 3 level POS demo.

I thought I read somewhere that your ego (= health) was supposed to regenerate when you did 'badass duke' things and not only when cowering behind a rock/ corner like in any other generic shooter released in the last 5 + years.

Glad I didn't pre-order this game. (I received a 'VIP' code when I bought Borderlands)

I just checked out some gameplay videos on youtube and it looked pretty boring. Though, it's also possible that only the player sucked.

Gotta give them credit for doing a demo at all if it's as bad as you say.

If devlopers realize their game is shitty/will only be fun for a couple of weeks, they never release a demo, just so they can coax their customers into buying it blind.

The demo is only available to VIP members (or whatever they call it) perhaps gearbox thought 'true fans' wouldn't be this critical? (gearbox forums are full of disappointment)

The awful second part of the demo:

The player of the demo does seem to suck a whole lot, actually. The game looks average/mediocre, though unfortunately too forgiving like most modern shooters.

After seeing that demo I can't really say that I am impressed with this game.
It doesn't raise interest whatsoever and in some parts it really seemed like a Borderlands clone.

I think if the original game had been released years ago that that would have made more of an impression as a fun and over the top humor action game.

What I see here is pretty much done to death.

The 1999 vegas trailer, this is how the game should have been.

Honestly I would've bought the game if they didn't have a FATAL FAIL.

Duke can only use 2 weapons at a time.

2.

TWO.

WEAPONS.

AT A TIME.

100% loss of interest detected.

I have to say after watching the demo playtroughs i feel less excited about the game than before, and i was kinda wary to begin with.

Really, the second part of the demo looks really bad. 2 weapon system i think is gonna make some of the weapons like freeze and shrink ray useless and level design seems quite bland, at least when looking the second part of the demo.

Maybe the demo is bad representation of the full game but seeing how important the demo is when it comes to marketing it would not make any sense.

Saw it in the demo already--- He can only carry 2 guns at a time, but every 10 meters is a gun on the ground now.

Oh I totally forgot about that code. I'm gonna go download that shit right nao

You know that sounds so stupid. It is amazing.

Instead of simply allowing people to carry all the guns you have them on the map instead.

Sorry, Gearbox, drawing cocks on whiteboards is not what Duke Nukem is about.

That, or Gearbox just does not understand why Duke 3D is so fondly remembered - whatever they might think, it's not just because of the attitude.

Keep in mind, that Gearbox just polished up what they got. It's not like they've build the game from the beginning to the end.

Not saying that it's all 3D Realms fault, but blaming it all on Gearbox is wrong as well. Especially because we saw video material of DNF before Gearbox took it over, which showed scenes that are most likely in the game now as well. At least the car driving part and the mine maps... More I don't remember right now.

You could carry 'every' weapon like you could in Duke 3d and every other 90's FPS there was also no regenerating health before Gearbox took over.

I can't wrap my head around that first decision, the ego/ health thing doesn't really bother me.
