So I was scanning through the Fallout bible and I've found this bit:

strange places).
('tis in the middle of page 128 in the compilation)

I ask of thee: Be there a second Solar Scorcher in the game, bar the one in this Star Trek reference special encounter when you get teleported and go to the armoury and... you know the one I mean?

Solar scorcher was originally meant to be in EPA, but they moved it some other places. Finally it ended up in Guardian of Forever special encounter. Maybe that comment is a inner joke of the developers.

I'm reasonably sure there is no more Scorcher in the game. I and probably others have been going through the maps in the Mapper(s) looking for hidden items and containers, and I'm 99% sure it's not created by any script.

I've heard of Holy Hand Grenades turning up in odd places like the chests in the bandits' caves. Perhaps the scripts that create these bandits also sometimes end up spawning some other stuff too. The Bandits, as far as I know already have some weird issues like carrying those P90c weapons that use the 9mm initially but then demand 10mm...

In an unmodded game they do not.

Nope, they just carry the wrong ammo type.

I don't now about encounters, but there's a P90c in Vault 15 that carries 9mm in the clip... and when you reload it, you can only do so with 10mm.

OK, Thanks Per, I didn't know that about unmodded games... my game is unmodded and I never turned up the Holy Hand grenade anywhere, but as much as I've played Fallout 2, I've still not seen it all (Specifically I've never had an Alien Blaster, I've never found a rave party, etc...) I just chalked it up to "never seen that one".

Anyway, I've never found those particular robbers either (by the time I get a "Bandit's Cave" encounter, I'm always above the minimum for the highest level bandits. They're fun to wipe out and loot, that's for sure!

Bump up your luck skill all the way and you get way more special ecounters .... and critical hits. The game is actually too easy with luck up and all the levels of critical perks (better and more). And yet I thought luck was a useless skill when I first played.

I've had high luck before... It does tend to unbalance things, especially combined with the right perks. I was able to wipe out Navarro base with a damn Laser Rifle! Just kept critting the eyes. Had luck 9, Sniper, More Criticals, Improved Criticals, and maybe one other, but that's by no means un-achievable in a normal game (I started with luck 7 and visited NCR for the Luck upgrade)
