It Wandered In From the Wastes
I made a wallpaper with a trooper clad in power armor against various backgrounds, including the stormy sky as seen in my avatar (Ooooooo, Aaaaaahh). Feel free to tell me they suck, you like them, or just to offer input and/or suggestions. (I'll be making more wallpapers of varying sizes on request.)



I will edit others into this post when I've made them...just to keep it tidy here. :)

Please Note: I did not paint, design, or render any of these images, I simply did the photoshop work with masks, filters, and touch-up. I take no credit for anything other than the minor photoshop work done to collaborate these images together.
 
Nice, I think the lightning one is best, most striking. The desert backround one is a little common but still looks good.
 
Thanks Tycell, keep in mind I did not create the backgrounds. I found them and replaced the American flag background with the ones shown above.

i can't help but think of "Don't push me coz i'm close to the ... edge" when i see your posts though

it's starting to get on my nerves. i need a lobotomy stat!
 
Haha, actually my handle is referring to the days of yore when a 386 processor was the cutting "edge" of technology, hence my signature. Thanks for the input SuAside. :)
 
Great work with the edges . . I bet it was a pain in the ass to erase the original bg ;)
 
Ha, It was a little tough. I used an adjustment layer to up the brightness temporarily so I could actually see the edges. Then went through and outlined everything and filled in the rest with a larger brush. After that I deactivated the adjustment layer so everything went back to its rich original colors. The edges could be a lot better, I hurried this more than I should have but I am still satisfied.

A little tid bit for ya, I actually attempted a Depth of Field look on the last picture with the "toxic" background, did anyone notice? If not then I must have done a half decent job. :)

As a matter of fact, the american flag background is still there, its just covered in a layer mask. Takes up quite a bit more space on my HDD but it can be useful in some instances (I just cant think of any right now! :D ) PsychoSniper game me an idea for another wall paper of a Squad leader in Adv. Power armor with two squad troopers in the middleground wearing regular power armor on either side of the squad leader. I need to find more backgrounds otherwise my posts here will start to look boring. Anyway, I should have another one posted within a week or so....we shall see.
 
Ah, yes.. That depth of field effect works great :) Might be a tad too strong, but what the heck; that makes it a clear and powerful effect.

What an insightful, oringinal and interesting post, it's without doubt worthy of bringing up a thread dead three weeks ago.
