some minty fresh ideas

I have several ideas for Fallout 3, if anyone's willing to listen.

First off, to resolve the whole turn-based vs. realtime dispute, why not make an option in the preferences menu so that you can choose either? It worked perfectly for X-Com 3, though I can't say it's a similar game.

Another thing I must say is that although I do love the Fallout series and think so far they're all great games (all 2 of them), I found that my ability to customize my appearance was a bit limited. Instead of having the ol' paper doll interface with boots, helmet, bla bla bla, the Fallout team stuck with one slot for 'armor'. All the armor suits do look cool, but I still like customizing my appearances. Call it vanity, I don't give a damn. Just 'cause it's a post-apocalyptic world doesn't mean you can't accessorize. And with the new 3d engine they would supposedly be using, this whole idea would work alot better.

Also, I hope very much that Interplay is willing to ride the Fallout franchise into the next century. I don't just want to see three or four Fallout games that are completely identical except for the plot (It pissed me off when I saw that they still hadn't updated the graphics engine on Fallout:BOS). I want it to follow in the footsteps of Ultima, as in at LEAST 9 games. This game setting has infinite possibilities, including branching out into different types of games. As a rule, you should always stick with the RPG elements as the main thing, but you could have 'spin-off' games (like Fallout:BOS) that branched out into strategy, simulation (Like being a vertibird pilot or something), MMORPGs (Fallout Online.. ooooooh... ::drools::), and even 1st person shooters (gasp!). Of course some of you might hate FPS's, as I do, but games like Half-life have turned the FPS game style in a new direction. A good direction. Just imagine a Fallout FPS as in-depth as HL, or perhaps even more. It makes me feel all tingly.

OK, I'm done now.

The BOS engine isn't the same one used in Fallout (2). It's still 2d isometric view; but they've added elevation levels, improved the graphics, maybe bumped up the resolution too (not sure on this one).
