Some questions and some findings(fallout2)

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Question 1: Must I listen to Jules to finish the quest "Find out who was responsible for Richard Wright's overdose" perfectly?

I like to pick up skynet early in the game, so I always run to Reno as soon as possible, but I found If I just do what I "must do", I cannot get the right dialog option when I try to explain the motive of Salvatore----I can only select " I don't know", I thought maybe I should have known the four families first, so I load a former save, take quest from the other 3 families, but it doesn't work. Then I load again and pay to Jules to hear about the four families, and turn to the Wrights, this time, the problem is solved.

Question 2: Are there some "really" differences between ELV and the UK version, besides the violence and the children?

As far as I know, in UK or Us version, you can hide in the corner of Modoc's toilet to avoid the explosion, and don't need to climb up the ladder. But in ELV version, I've tried every corner, but still died in a miserable manner. So I want to know more differences between ELV and the "standard" version, if there really are.

Finding 1: Wipe out Metzger at low level

Steal the shot gun from Metzger and then lock the door, then you can shoot him and his men through the window, and they have no choice to run away or counterattack. So you can wipe them out at a very low level and without a scratch. It's not necessary, but can satisfy your vanity :)

Finding 2: Get Skynet at low level

I think Skynet is almost perfect in battle, though his sequence is not so good. He is very "docile", and funny-looking. To get him, you should have about 130 science skill, about 100 lockpick, and maybe a little repair skill(not necessary, you can use the switch to low the forcefields by half, or you can repair them with a skill over 50, though you may have to load a lot). You don't need a high level to gain the abilities listed above, I think level 8 is enough, or even lower. You can get 3 combat armor for yourself and your NPCS in the Army Depot, and you can use elevator during the fight with the robots, you can also killed them with no casualty to get the Robot Motivator.

To enter the Army Depot, you can use the sniper rifle you picked up in the battlefield, try t0 break the sensors of the robots(??) so it is not a problem, even to a low level character.

Finding 3: Kill Melchior and his pets the easy way

There is a narrow path between you and Melchior, and if one of your NPC get in the path, no one else can go through, the result will be like this: Melchior's pets will not even move a step because they can't get near to you, and the scene may be funny, you shoot them one by one, nobody cares, except Melchior, but he can not hurt you a lot without the help of his pets, so you can finish them all in a quiet, onesided fight.

Thanks for having read this long article……

You can learn about the families in many ways, but apparently just talking to the bosses isn't enough. You don't have to pay Jules, though, just get to the point where he mentions their names.

I'm pretty sure the toilet thing is just highly random. I've done it a few times in the UK version, but most often it doesn't work.

My problem with NPCs was that they always killed Melchoir pretty quickly. I assume you disarm them and tell them not to move.

Ha, then you may try the way I mentioned, the Melchoir's pets will not move, nor will your NPCs, ONLY YOU AND Melchoir can attack in this occasion

I usually do like this:

Go towards Melchoir, and let one or two NPC(s) go ahead of you, when the fight begins, just go back, and your NPCs will go back, too, then you can stand JUST BEHIND the narrow path, and "stuck" your NPC to the right place which could only let one person goes through, then you can shoot Melchoir and his pets, all of your NPCs and all of Melchoir's pets will not move or attack, until the fight is over.

I just snipe his ass, before combat starts. Just walk forward until a floating text appears, initiate combat, and in my case, melt his ass before he can do anything.

Of course, that's easy, but how about wipe out all his pets without hard fighting ? EXP is always a good thing :D

I for one tend to wax Mechior either ASAP or after he's let out only the deathclaws. The Fire Geckos, I've found, seem to be rather unhappy inside, code-wise, and will quite frequently crash the game with their fire-breath weapons. (To quote the Goyriya from "The Legend of Zelda"; "Grumble Grumble"...)

i've never seen the game crash due to the fire geckos tbh...

most of the time i just let him spawn his minions, bozar them to death, gain XP & wax good old melchy when he's out of little friends.

Melchoir's fire geckos crashed my game quite a few times. They also stuck in this funky animation sequence when they can't reach your character because they're blocked by deathclaws. This is why, if melchoir calls out fire geckos, I kill them as soon as possible (so the game doesn't crash).

the deathclaws are still around when he spawns firegeckos? damn man, you really need a Bozar!

:P

My way of beating Melchoir is exactly the opposite... I want all his pets to spawn.

So basically I have all my NPCs set to "target closest" and stick them behind me (make sure they don't burst!) , putting myself in the front of the bottleneck on the narrow path.

Since I'm wearing power armor, I just eat shots from Melchoir like candy. Occasionally he'll crit so I usually pack a lot of stims.

His pets will run up and usually me/my party members will waste them before they get in melee range.

Once all the pets are gone I 1-shot 'ol mel in the eyes.
